ππππ Fall in Love With Riding Again πππ
Whatβs the best part of going for a bike ride? Whatβs your favorite piece of the riding puzzle? Here are some of my favorite reasons I get out on the bike:
Seeing the world at just the right speed.
Food food food! Bookending a ride with a coffee shop or zipping through a farmers market makes me happy.
The process. Noticing my fitness grow. Patience with a sport that rewards cumulative hard work.
The flow state. Screaming down the road in the perfect paceline or feeling invincible at the front of a pack.
The community. Being with others, group rides, riding in rotation, the chatter when riding two-by-two.
Town line sprints (folks who know me, know I sprint like a snail). Exploration. Adventure. Favorite riding loops. Brand new routes. The endorphin rush. The wind in my face. Getting dirty. Making a bike pristine clean. Personal therapy. The list goes onβ¦
These are all what DIYgravel is all about. In a year thatβs anything but normal with covid, thereβs no better season to love cycling than right now in fall.
In submitting your DIYgravel entries, many of you have submitted photos. I want to share a fraction of whatβs been sent in because from the scenic to the unexpected to the #mybikeleaningonstuff to the barns to the truly epic to the gravel roads and paved, these will speak to you all as cyclists. Scroll through these photos and enjoy.
As the days get shorter and the traditional road season nears a close, this is a reminder to simply enjoy whatever is the reason you ride this fall.
Itβs also a reminder that this week kicks off the King Challenge. This is the 10th anniversary of the ride I helped start and I want to celebrate it in a huge huge way β Iβm going to do one massive ride where I pedal 1 mile for every $100 I personally raise. Iβm currently looking at a 127 mile ride having raised $12,700β¦ and I know we can do more.
You can donate here.
You can register here, if you want to join the King Challenge. It runs Oct 9-18.
As always, keep submitting those DIYgravel rides!
All the best. I wish you a happy Monday and happy fall,
βTed
